2017 - Week 5

After this week's equalizing results, we have a 4-way tie for 1st place in the league! The playoff spots are still wide open and it could be anyone's season. Let's see how it all went down!

League All-Star Players

Jaguars D/ST, D/ST (SUCH): 26.0 pts (+19.9 over projected)
Melvin Gordon, LAC RB (Red): 34.3 pts (+19.7 over projected)
Deshaun Watson, Hou QB (ZEKE): 35.5 pts (+19.2 over projected)

The Jaguars defense and special teams stole the show this week getting nearly 20 points more than projected against the Steelers.

League Bust Players

Carlos Hyde, SF RB (FENE): 2.8 pts (-13.6 under projected)
Stefon Diggs, Min WR (RISH): 1.4 pts (-13.5 under projected)
DeShone Kizer, Cle QB (Red): 2.4 pts (-12.9 under projected)

San Francisco's running back had a tough week against the Colts. They kept him to just 11 yards on 8 rushing attempts.

Best of the Bench

Carson Wentz, Phi Bench (FENE): 27.3 pts (+11.4 over projected)
Cam Newton, Car Bench (EGG): 26.2 pts (+10.5 over projected)
Chris Hogan, NE Bench (FENE): 21.4 pts (+7.0 over projected)

We had another great week for QBs on the bench. But coach Patrick is showing the greatest depth with Chris Hogan also having a better-than-expected receiving week against Tampa.

Sports and Such vs Ministry of Silly Walks

FINAL SCORE: 144.4 - 119.8

WINNER: Sports and Such

Star Players:
A.J. Green, Cin WR (MoSW): 29.9 pts from 189 yds; 1 TD; 7/13 REC
DeAndre Hopkins, Hou WR (SUCH): 27.2 pts from 52 yds; 3 TD; 4/12 REC
Jaguars D/ST, D/ST (SUCH): 26.0 pts from 9 PA; 2 TD; 5 INT; 2 SCK;

Underachievers:
Tom Brady, NE QB (SUCH): 12.6 pts (-7.6 projected) from 303 yds passing; 1 TD; 1 INT
Jordy Nelson, GB WR (MoSW): 10.4 pts (-7.5 projected) from 24 yds; 1 TD; 2/4 REC
Randall Cobb, GB FLEX (SUCH): 6.9 pts (-6.3 projected) from 29 yds; 0 TD; 4/5 REC

In this week's highest scoring matchup, coach Brandon led the way with really solid performances from his WRs (geting 50 points between his two starters) and then the Jaguars D/ST did the rest by having 2 TDs and 5 INTs against Pittsburg. This win evens things up in the front again with a 4 way tie between Anna, Kristin and Brandon and Patrick for 1st place.

Fun Fact: The Jaguars defense had more receptions in the second half than their offense
The Ministry of Silly Walks lost their first game of the season, but coach Kristin's squad still played very well. She probably would have liked more than 2 pts from Mercedes Lewis, but everyone else had a respectable showing.

Coach Kristin will be back in it after this light cat-nap

Commissioner Goodell vs Green Bay Mermen

FINAL SCORE: 134.0 - 94.7

WINNER: Commissioner Goodell

Star Players:
Leonard Fournette, Jax RB (GOOD): 31.4 pts from 184 yds; 2 TD; 28 RUNS
Alex Smith, KC QB (GOOD): 26.9 pts from 324 yds passing; 3 TD; 0 INT
Devin Funchess, Car FLEX (GOOD): 18.3 pts from 53 yds; 1 TD; 7/8 REC

Underachievers:
Stefon Diggs, Min WR (RISH): 1.4 pts (-13.5 projected) from 4 yds; 0 TD; 1/4 REC
Todd Gurley, LAR RB (RISH): 5.0 pts (-12.8 projected) from 50 yds; 0 TD; 14 RUNS
Sammy Watkins, LAR WR (GOOD): 0.0 pts (-11.2 projected) from 0 yds; 0 TD; 0/4 REC

Commissioner Goodell had his best game of the season despite getting 0 points from Sammy Watkins. Jacksonville's Fournette and Kansas City's Smith both had great weeks at the same time which is what coach Skyler is hoping to see more of.

I wouldn't complain if my best players decided to have good weeks at the same time more often

The Green Bay Mermen also lost their first game of the season. However, thanks to coach Brandon's great week she remains tied in first place with the Ministry of Silly Walks. This week she wasn't helped by having 3 of her players on bye and Todd Gurley's first bad game of the season against the Seahawks.

Can't complain too much while still in first place

Zeke-a Virus vs Redmond SkiFrees

FINAL SCORE: 126.9 - 105.2

WINNER: Zeke-a Virus

Star Players:
Deshaun Watson, Hou QB (ZEKE): 35.5 pts from 261 yds passing; 5 TD; 0 INT
Melvin Gordon, LAC RB (Red): 34.3 pts from 163 yds; 2 TD; 20 RUNS
Antonio Brown, Pit WR (ZEKE): 25.7 pts from 157 yds; 0 TD; 10/19 REC

Underachievers:
DeShone Kizer, Cle QB (Red): 2.4 pts (-12.9 projected) from 87 yds passing; 0 TD; 1 INT
Ezekiel Elliott, Dal RB (ZEKE): 14.2 pts (-7.3 projected) from 132 yds; 0 TD; 29 RUNS
Doug Baldwin, Sea WR (Red): 7.7 pts (-6.3 projected) from 37 yds; 0 TD; 4/8 REC

Coach Nick was kept his lead in a close matchup this week. And even though Houston and Pittsburg ended up losing their games, their performances helped push Zeke-a Virus over the SkiFrees this week.

TBH I think his players would have rather won their actual games, but they were helpful for Nick

Coach Brandon continues his tradition of losing close games. This week he learned the hard way about backing a rookie QB. Cleveland's Kizer recorded one of the worst QB scores of the season.

Sometimes even a good bet can go sour

Team FENELON vs Seattle Handegg Squad

FINAL SCORE: 119.3 - 58.3

WINNER: Team FENELON

Star Players:
Dak Prescott, Dal QB (FENE): 29.7 pts from 251 yds passing; 4 TD; 1 INT
Aaron Rodgers, GB QB (EGG): 24.0 pts from 221 yds passing; 3 TD; 0 INT
Odell Beckham Jr., NYG WR (FENE): 21.5 pts from 105 yds; 1 TD; 5/8 REC

Underachievers:
Carlos Hyde, SF RB (FENE): 2.8 pts (-13.6 projected) from 18 yds; 0 TD; 8 RUNS
Amari Cooper, Oak WR (EGG): 1.8 pts (-9.2 projected) from 8 yds; 0 TD; 1/2 REC
Mike Evans, TB FLEX (FENE): 9.9 pts (-8.3 projected) from 49 yds; 0 TD; 5/8 REC

Coach Patrick's win this week was dampened a bit by the loss of Odell Beckham Jr. to an ankle injury at the end of the game against the Chargers. Luckily he has some good depth on his bench that should be able to take over next week.

Next man up on Team FENELON

Coach Andre played half a team this week; 4 players did not get a single point. He will need to find someone to trade him an RB for his extra QBs so he can field a full team next week.

HandEgg Squad players making excuses about "BYE weeks"

Taco Tuesdays vs The Bad At Footballs

FINAL SCORE: 90.2 - 84.4

WINNER: Taco Tuesdays

Star Players:
Davante Adams, GB WR (TACO): 25.6 pts from 66 yds; 2 TD; 7/11 REC
Le'Veon Bell, Pit RB (BAD): 19.3 pts from 93 yds; 0 TD; 15 RUNS
Jameis Winston, TB QB (TACO): 18.5 pts from 334 yds passing; 1 TD; 0 INT

Underachievers:
Eric Ebron, Det TE (TACO): 1.6 pts (-6.5 projected) from 6 yds; 0 TD; 1/4 REC
Jared Cook, Oak TE (BAD): 3.5 pts (-5.8 projected) from 25 yds; 0 TD; 3/6 REC
Rishard Matthews, Ten FLEX (TACO): 6.1 pts (-5.3 projected) from 31 yds; 0 TD; 3/6 REC

Taco Tuesday pulled out a win this week despite having 5 players on a bye week. Every single player on coach Shane's bench was either on BYE or injured.

'this close' to not having a full team

Coach Derek had good performances by Le'Veon Bell and DeSean Jackson. Also, he had the highest scoring kicker in the league this week! Hopefully next week Derek Carr will be back from his injury to help out.
