2017 - Week 9

We are done with single digit weeks of football! Week 9 is in the bag so only 4 games remain. You need to be in the top 4 teams to make it to the playoffs so each win is essential!

League All-Star Players

T.Y. Hilton, Ind WR (SUCH): 34.5 pts (+24.6, over projected)
Marvin Jones Jr., Det WR (EGG): 29.7 pts (+18.4, over projected)
Alshon Jeffery, Phi WR (TACO): 26.4 pts (+13.9, over projected)

T.Y. Hilton had an amazing game from only 5 receptions. One of his 2 TDs included a catch where he fooled the defenders by pretending to be down before jumping up and getting to the endzone.

League Bust Players

LeSean McCoy, Buf RB (RISH): 2.5 pts (-19.4, under projected)
A.J. Green, Cin WR (MoSW): 1.6 pts (-13.8, under projected)
Mike Evans, TB WR (FENE): 2.3 pts (-13.7, under projected)

This week we had several unexpected low performers at the skill positions. Although, two of the three have "excuses" since they were kicked out of their games for getting into fights and throwing punches.

Best of the Bench

Alvin Kamara, NO Bench (BAD): 31.2 pts (+15.6, over projected)
Matt Forte, NYJ Bench (BAD): 25.6 pts (+15.5, over projected)
Carson Wentz, Phi Bench (ZEKE): 24.8 pts (+8.7, over projected)

Coach Derek had the two highest scoring bench players this week. Next time I see him I'll make sure he downloads the fantasy football app to avoid this next time.

Redmond SkiFrees vs Ministry of Silly Walks

PROJECTED SCORE: 110.9 - 96.4

FINAL SCORE: 134.9 - 71.6

WINNER: Redmond SkiFrees

Star Players:
Tyrod Taylor, Buf QB (Red): 26.9 pts from 285 yds passing; 3 TD; 0 INT
Doug Baldwin, Sea WR (Red): 23.8 pts from 108 yds; 1 TD; 7/12 REC
Golden Tate, Det FLEX (Red): 18.3 pts from 113 yds; 0 TD; 7/9 REC

Underachievers:
A.J. Green, Cin WR (MoSW): 1.6 pts (-13.8 projected) from 6 yds; 0 TD; 1/2 REC
Kareem Hunt, KC RB (MoSW): 10.1 pts (-7.8 projected) from 61 yds; 0 TD; 9 RUNS
Chris Thompson, Wsh RB (Red): 7.1 pts (-6.1 projected) from 31 yds; 0 TD; 4 RUNS

Coach Brandon breezed by at the top of the league this week thanks to Tyrod, Doug and once again Greg Zuerlein the consistently impressive kicker. The Redmond SkiFrees are looking good just in time for the most important games of the season.

Something changed with coach Kristin's team and it wasn't coach Kristin. These players were scoring near the top of the league just a few weeks ago, but the tide of the season is going against her currently. The Ministry of Silly Walks may need to make some mid-season adjustments.

Sports and Such vs The Bad At Footballs

PROJECTED SCORE: 93.8 - 66.0

FINAL SCORE: 128.5 - 82.8

WINNER: Sports and Such

Star Players:
T.Y. Hilton, Ind WR (SUCH): 34.5 pts from 175 yds; 2 TD; 5/9 REC
DeAndre Hopkins, Hou WR (SUCH): 20.6 pts from 86 yds; 1 TD; 6/16 REC
Jared Cook, Oak TE (BAD): 20.6 pts from 126 yds; 0 TD; 8/9 REC

Underachievers:
DeSean Jackson, TB FLEX (BAD): 5.3 pts (-6.8 projected) from 33 yds; 0 TD; 2/4 REC
Harrison Butker, KC K (SUCH): 5.0 pts (-3.8 projected) from 1/1 field goals; 2/2 XP
Devonta Freeman, Atl RB (SUCH): 10.4 pts (-2.9 projected) from 64 yds; 0 TD; 11 RUNS

Team Sports and Such had a resurgence this week with Marshawn Lynch back as well as great showings from his receivers. DeAndre Hopkins had 16 passes throw to him which is the league high targets for a WR.

Coach Derek needs to update his lineup.

Your Neopets... I mean fantasy football men are lonely without you!

Seattle Handegg Squad vs Team FENELON

PROJECTED SCORE: 102.8 - 111.4

FINAL SCORE: 117.2 - 105.2

WINNER: Seattle Handegg Squad

Star Players:
Marvin Jones Jr., Det WR (EGG): 29.7 pts from 107 yds; 2 TD; 7/11 REC
Dak Prescott, Dal QB (FENE): 26.7 pts from 249 yds passing; 3 TD; 0 INT
Russell Wilson, Sea QB (EGG): 23.6 pts from 297 yds passing; 2 TD; 2 INT

Underachievers:
Mike Evans, TB WR (FENE): 2.3 pts (-13.7 projected) from 13 yds; 0 TD; 1/6 REC
Doug Martin, TB RB (EGG): 0.7 pts (-12.3 projected) from 7 yds; 0 TD; 8 RUNS
Ka'imi Fairbairn, Hou K (FENE): 1.0 pts (-7.5 projected) from 0/1 field goals; 2/2 XP

Coach Andre won this week thanks to Russell Wilson and Marvin Jones Jr but also because of strong performances across his team. The Seattle Handegg squad has managed to pick up some strong new players from waivers and their lineup is looking more intimidating than it did the first half of the season.

Team FENELON was stuck with 4 players on BYE and two injured bench players making this week a struggle. Then Mike Evans decided to get into a fight against New Orleans landing him a suspension for next week.

Zeke-a Virus vs Taco Tuesdays

PROJECTED SCORE: 118.1 - 111.6

FINAL SCORE: 112.9 - 103.9

WINNER: Zeke-a Virus

Star Players:
Alshon Jeffery, Phi WR (TACO): 26.4 pts from 84 yds; 2 TD; 6/11 REC
Christian McCaffrey, Car RB (ZEKE): 20.4 pts from 94 yds; 1 TD; 15 RUNS
Drew Brees, NO QB (TACO): 18.7 pts from 263 yds passing; 2 TD; 0 INT

Underachievers:
Mark Ingram, NO RB (TACO): 8.9 pts (-10.4 projected) from 79 yds; 0 TD; 16 RUNS
Bills D/ST, D/ST (TACO): 0.0 pts (-7.7 projected) from 34 PA; 1 SCK;
Ezekiel Elliott, Dal RB (ZEKE): 15.3 pts (-7.2 projected) from 93 yds; 1 TD; 27 RUNS

All of team Zeke-a Virus played pretty averagely. I wouldn't say any of their players underachieved. The fact that Ezekiel Elliott landed on the underachievers list with 15.3 points shows a lot about what is expected from him. I won't even try to guess if he'll be allowed to play next week.

Riding the Zeke suspension news the last month

Coach Shane's team also put up pretty average numbers besides Alshon Jeffery. The bad news is that three of his players are questionable for next week due to small dings during their games.

Green Bay Mermen vs Commissioner Goodell

PROJECTED SCORE: 126.7 - 95.0

FINAL SCORE: 92.5 - 91.8

WINNER: Green Bay Mermen

Star Players:
Todd Gurley II, LAR FLEX (RISH): 24.4 pts from 104 yds; 2 TD; 2/3 REC
Travis Kelce, KC TE (RISH): 20.3 pts from 73 yds; 1 TD; 7/9 REC
Alex Smith, KC QB (GOOD): 18.4 pts from 263 yds passing; 2 TD; 1 INT

Underachievers:
LeSean McCoy, Buf RB (RISH): 2.5 pts (-19.4 projected) from 25 yds; 0 TD; 12 RUNS
Aaron Jones, GB RB (GOOD): 3.1 pts (-10.0 projected) from 11 yds; 0 TD; 5 RUNS
Kirk Cousins, Wsh QB (RISH): 8.3 pts (-6.3 projected) from 247 yds passing; 0 TD; 0 INT

The Green Bay Mermen keep their record despite unexpected low scores from Shady and Cousins! Their only loss is still to Commissioner Goodell who ALMOST managed the upset this week. At the end of the day though, a win is a win and Coach Anna remains firmly in 1st place in the league.

Close call

Being in the closest loss of the season was very thrilling. If Leonard Fournette had showed up to his team pictures or Aaron Jones ran 7 more yards Commissioner Goodell could have won this game.

Just not quite good enough

----- Coming up next week -------

Week 10
Green Bay Mermen (8-1) vs. Team FENELON (5-4)
Sports and Such (7-2) vs. Zeke-a Virus (7-2)
Redmond SkiFrees (5-4) vs. Seattle Handegg Squad (2-7)
Taco Tuesdays (4-5) vs. Commissioner Goodell (3-6)
The Bad At Footballs (0-9) vs. Ministry of Silly Walks (4-5)
